Our mission is to empower older adults to live independently and with dignity in their homes by providing comprehensive planning and support,
facilitating connections with all potential quality services whilst advocating for the person's individual needs and preferences.
Our relationship-based approach values honest communication, empathy and respect built on trust. The goal is for our clients to feel valued, respected and heard on their journey towards ageing comfortably and safely at home.
SILVER LININGS NAVIGATOR
At Silver Linings we offer an Aged Care Navigation Service, a human compass with high-quality care to point our clients in the right direction.
We provide personalised, face-to-face, guidance taking you through the My Aged Care system, discussing available support services whilst providing a holistic approach to best suit your individual choices and circumstances.
Our team offers human navigation by working with the client, and their family. We listen, discuss, facilitate and collaborate information to create tailored home care plans aimed at delivering Silver Linings to clients in their golden years.
THE PATH
The journey through the Aged Care System is a complex, time-consuming and daunting path that can overwhelm older individuals, their families and friends.
The recent postponement of the new Aged Care Act until July 2025 has further compounded these difficulties. This delay has left many seniors and their families in a state of uncertainty, struggling to access the necessary home care services.
The demand for home-based aged care continues to rise, but the availability and quality of these services remain inconsistent and at times elusive.
At Silver Linings, we assist by streamlining the process, guiding and supporting you every step of the way.
From July 2024 to 2025, the federal government has released a further 24,100 home care packages and created a new one-step independent assessment tool that aims to improve the assessment process for government-subsidised home care packages.
Proactive planning now with our navigators will enable a smooth transition to the new ‘Support at Home’ program in 2025.
OUR FOUNDER - ALISON LORD RN Consultant
I found my niche in Community Health and supporting older members (over 65 years) of our community as a Community Registered Nurse and Home Care Package Manager over the past 15 years.
After completing postgraduate qualifications in Healthy Ageing and Dementia Studies, I worked for ‘not-for-profit' organisations as an educator, trainer, mentor and manager in Community Care, specialising in home-based aged care.
This area of health care is very rewarding - assisting older members of the community to live well in their own environment. My values align with person-centred care whereby the person’s best interests are the focal point and hence I am not aligned with any organisation or service provider.
After being a part of the complex My Aged Care system for many years, I feel there is a need for independent nurse navigators to advocate and walk with you through your personal journey. This can be only one step (if you’re stuck) or navigating the whole journey with you, one step at a time!
My clinical skills are specialised in a relationship-based model of care, working together to plan, organise and ultimately enjoy the Silver Linings of supportive home-based care to assist you in living your best life.
